2022 Annual Meeting

Online January 21-23

The Society for the Study of the Indigenous Languages of theAmericas (SSILA) will hold its annual winter meeting on January 21-23, 2022. SSILA meetings allow scholars to present on a wide range of topics centered on any aspect of Indigenous American languages.

Because of the continuing global COVID-19 crisis, the SSILAExecutive Committee has decided that the conference will be held online on a virtual platform, allowing participants to take part in the meeting without the need to travel. Register for the online meetings here.

We are delighted to announce that we will commemorate the 40th anniversary of SSILA with a number of special events, including presentations by three keynote speakers and a special forum. We hope these events will provide us with the opportunity to reflect on the founding of the Society, what has been achieved in our field over the past decades and in what direction our field is headed.

Please read the SSILA Statement from the Executive Committee and plan to join the important Open Forum to discuss what we collectively envision as the future of the Society on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of SSILA

The organized session Inclusive Pathways and Broadening Participation for Native Americans in the Language Sciences, organized by Colleen Fitzgerald and Wesley Leonard and co-sponsored by the Linguistics Society of America is now available online. See the 2022 Organized Session page for details.

Please read and follow our Code of Conduct for the online meetings.
